Firstly, even the manufacturer's description and Amazon's 'Rufus' answers, sell this marvellous little machine, short. The reason I say this is because I soon discovered from the user manual and, in my subsequent trials, that it DOES process meat and fish brilliantly !! Bung everything you would normally compost in the pot and press the button. It really is as simple as that. Then, not 6 months, but just 6, whisper quiet, hours !!! later, you have a dry, friable, concentrated fertiliser to mix into your soil, which I am looking forward to doing this weekend. For me, personally, with all my little foibles, (ancient, very late diagnosed autistic and, more likely than not ADHD) this classy looking, super efficient, 'best gadget in my kitchen', has made my life easier, which gives me great satisfaction. Horses for courses ... anyone want to buy an almost new Hotbin composter ? ha ! ha !

Absolutely brilliant!! I was a little hesitant reading some reviews. I try and treat like I would a normal compost heap. In never putting too much of the same food, mix it up and cut it up!! And you get beautiful crumbly compost at the end. Only smell when its done is that of healthy compost! My garden is loving my new addition!! So quiet, and the pot is really clean at the end! I would give more stars if I could!

It’s Great. It does the job. It gives a list what you can put in it. I save it up in a container while I get quite a bit to use it. It doesn’t have a horrible smell while your doing it.

If you have a smaller property and care for your plants this is ideal. Vedge, egg shells, flowers, tea bags and coffee grounds etc need never be thrown away but converted into compost for your garden, pot plants or window boxes. Takes a while but will worth it

This is like performing a magic trick. Dump in your food scraps, open it back up when the cycle is complete and it's shrunk down to a little pile of compost. I've always wanted to start composting but I just can not with the smell and bugs related to traditional composting... Not toention I'm one of the least patient people on Earth. I searched through so many brands, specs, and reviews to finally settle on this one. I could not be happier I did. It's compact, almost silent, sleek, simple to use, and most of all it works exactly as promised. Basically, fill the pot with your food waste before bed, close the lid, press start, wake up to about a cup of fresh, ready to use compost in the morning. That's it. It's that simple. I put in whole peppers, baby carrots, vegetable and fruit peels and it handled everything like it was nothing. Chopping things up will allow you to fit more in the pot but I wanted to see what it could handle and it handles it all with ease. There's no smell while it's working. Of course your little pile of compost smells like compost, so store it somewhere you don't mind the smell. Apparently it chimes when it's done but I was sleeping and by the time I woke up, it wasn't chiming. I don't see a need for an alert when it's finished but I suppose it's a nice touch for anyone wanting to keep an eye on it. I'm really more of a set it and forget it kind of person.. clean up is easy. Just dump the compost into a container. I fill the pot with water and dump that water in my indoor plants to give them a little shot of nutrients with the compost that stuck to the bottom. Simple. If you're even considering it, just get it. You will not be disappointed!

I bought this machine for my family of 5. It worked fairly well for 2 weeks, but then overnight it produced a thick liquid mess (see photo); I assumed someone had accidentally opened it during the cycle. Unfortunately, that was not the case. It kept happening, I'd scrap it out, clean it, and try again, making sure we followed directions precisely. After 31 days (a day after my Amazon return window closed), it wouldn't make anything but the wet sludge. I reached out to the manufacturer and they still haven't gotten back to me - it's been 6+ weeks. Money down the drain.

I love this thing and its been so great for my garden. I throw in all my kitchen scraps and it turns them into compost super easy with no smell at all. It sits right on my counter and doesnt take up much space, which I love. Just press one button and it does its thing, pretty quiet too. Cleanup is simple since the parts come out and can go in the dishwasher. It takes a few hours but thats fine for everyday use. Honestly makes composting way less gross and way more doable.

I am thrilled with this purchase. I have put this kitchen composter through its paces this past harvest season and it has kept up without a bit trouble. I only put plant based scraps in it along with egg shells. There is no foul smells while processing and I run it overnight. It does get warm but I placed it on a small pallet to get lots of air flow around it. NutriChef produces a well broke down compost that I am storing to apply to my garden come spring. Simple and quiet, qualities I have a great appreciation for!

Doesn’t always dehydrate on the first round, but it’s worked pretty well over the first month or so. Doesn’t create a fine silt but creates a final product thats fairly dirt like and goes right into my flower bed outside when it’s done. It also does a decent job of keeping the odors down, and it’s not super loud when it’s running. After every use it does illuminate the clean and filter lights which the instructions make it sound like I have to run a clean cycle and replace the filter, which I did the first time, before I recognized it does it after every cycle so that’s weird. Not a perfect machine but still good, and for the price I feel like it was worth it.
