A Cheap Way to get a lot of Cards!
I am going to split my review into 2 pieces. One for new players and one for people who already know how the game works. The last portion of the review is for everyone.**For New Players**I highly recommend this box (plus intro decks) for a new player. The price on Amazon is unbeatable for this box. At less than $18 for this kit, you get a huge amount of cards to start off with. Great value if you need cheap cards. There is enough in this box alone to make an "ok" deck. Best purchase a few (or all of) the intro decks to have a better selection. Remember to keep your deck size as close to 60 as possible! The more cards you have past 60 increases your chance of drawing a card that isn't your best card.**For People with Magic Cards**If you already have a decent amount of cards, I do not recommend this pack due to the marketing strategies of this box. This contains a fixed 85 card count and the only "semi-randomized" cards are a small selection of about 11 cards. The variance in these 11 cards follows the strategies outlined in the How-to fold outs included with the box. So... bottom line here is that this box is giving you around 11 or so new cards plus the booster packs. You should get at least one 2013 booster and one 2012 booster. The intended targets for this box are new players. There is not much to gain from this box if you are looking for more 2013 cards.**Everyone**I have put together an extensive analysis on which of 3 products would be the most cost effective way of getting new cards. The 3 products being compared are: Magic the Gathering M13 2013 Core Set Booster Box 36 Packs Magic 2013 Core Set Fat Pack Magic the Gathering - MTG: Deck Builders M13 2013 Core Set Toolkit (2012 Edition) 285 Trading Cards including 4 Booster Packs (current item).~~2013 Booster Box~~Item cost: $94.94Number of packs: 36Cards per pack: 15Approx. However, the Deckbuilder kits do not contain much variety in the cards and are mainly intended for new players. Bottom line, this is good for starting players only. There is not much to gain from this if you already have a collection of cards.Currently the cheapest way to get 2013 cards is from booster packs. The cheapest way to get booster packs is to buy them one case at a time.5 Stars if you do not have magic cards.2 Stars if you have magic cards.

An awesome start to a collection and new Deck Builder
First off I am very new to Magic: The Gathering, as I have only been playing the game for a few days, but I have researched tons of information and been playing the Magic:2014 game on the android and the older one on steam. I questioned myself on whether or not to get this product or a fat pack to help begin my collection, in the end I resulted in getting this for the ratio of lands, of which I have very few, and also the value for your money that this provides to those just beginning or going back to magic. I also took it upon myself before buying this to purchase an intro deck to help get a structured deck in play, so I can confidently refine or just build another deck from scratch with this set. Starting off for the first time in Magic, I highly recommend doing this, and then from there getting booster packs, and fat packs to further add to what you will have after such. The Deck builder's toolkit is an amazing value to get so many cards plus 4 booster packs for only $15-20ish bucks depending on where and how you buy it. I have enjoyed the semi-random cards that come in these, but I was sad, when I found out my two favorite colors happened to be the minorities of the deck builder's toolkit I got. All, in all, this is an astounding value for the price, and it will definitely get you going on your collection, and being able to make at least 2-3 decks depending on preference of course. Like I said earlier, though, I recommend for new players to also get an intro deck as well, so they can have choices on whether to build new decks with this or further refine the intro deck they choose, or even both if able. If anyone sees this review and has questions feel free to ask, and I will try my best to answer questions about this product, and in regards to Magic, as much as I am able.

Great first set of Magic cards!
A friend of mine introduced me to Magic recently, so I bought this as my first set of Magic cards. The set contained a large variety of decent to good cards in several different colors/styles.In this toolkit:*Every box has the same 100 basic lands (20 of each type),*Every box has the same set of 85 initial cards (about 16 per color + 1 artifact + 4 evolving lands)*The next 40 cards are the "semi-randomized" block. These cards are "semi-randomized" because they are in 4 groups of 10 card "deck starter" themed sets. There are a total of 11 different sets possible, and each toolkit includes 4 random sets out of the 11 possible. My box contained sets for a white Angel deck, a red Burn deck (lots of fire & devils), a black/red Vampire deck, and a black/blue Zombie deck.*The remaining 60 cards are contained in the 4 booster packs, of which you get 1 each from Innistrad, Dark Ascension, Avacyn Restored, and the M13 Core Set. I got some really nice pulls from my boosters that complemented my "deck starters" well, including a legendary Krenko, Mob Boss and a rare Hellrider Devil ($9 card by itself).Overall I was very pleased with the cards in the set and how they worked together pretty well. I was able to make 4 decent decks out of just the cards in the deck. My only complaint is that with only 20 of each land it is difficult to make a monocolored deck. I ended splitting up my red cards between the black/red Vampires deck and a green/red aggressive creatures deck, because I didn't have enough red cards to do a standalone monocolored red burn deck. I was able to make a nice monocolored white Angels deck, because my boosters included more plains and the Angels deck starter also included an additional land. The black/blue Zombies deck looks pretty cool (haven't had time to play it yet), and I have a bunch of neat blue cards leftover to swap in and out with as well. Also, the box this all comes in is pretty nicely done. It works well as a reuseable card box. I'd estimate it would hold about 500 cards total, and it includes a cardboard spacer so that the initial 285 cards fit into it easily without falling around. The golden dragon art on the box is pretty cool as well.

Dont expect anything special
I bought the M11 toolkit a while back and got an amazing selection of cards and was hoping for the same with this one. But I feel a little let down with this one. There is a wide selection of cards in this box making it great for a first timer wanting to get into the game but if you already have a lot of cards this box isn't for you.In total this box contained, including the booster packs, 4 rares and around a dozen uncommon's. and such a while range of common cards its going to be hard to make a decent deck from them without buy yet more M13 booster packs.

Perfect starting point for all new MTG players!
I recently bought this for myself and my partner, and there was more than enough cards to allow a game between two, with the cards found within.Plenty of variety and rarer cards, as well as at least 20 + land cards for Blue /Black/ White / Red and Green. Also contained 4 x Evolving Wilds cards to allow for easier mixed deck play.Builder Toolkit is exactly what it sounds like, and whether you are starting off in playing the game or an established player, the contents of this deck will go a long way to expanding the possibilities of your gaming.A NOTE FOR NEW PLAYERS : This game can be a little daunting at first and comes with a learning curve, but all the help you will need is in this kit.Have fun and Enjoy!

Great value for people new to the game!
I recently just got into Magic the Gathering and decided to buy this pack, you get a great selection of 258 cards! You get plenty of each type of land which is essential for building a deck. In the pack you also get a good selection of monsters that workwell with each other, there is a lack of powerful monsters but you might get lucky with the 4 booster packs which are usually £4 each anyway. The value is astounding, i am so happy with what i got for this amount of money and this has set me up nicely to build a great deck, i even got a legendary card in one of the booster packs that were included. I would highly recommend this for anyone who wants to start the game, you cannot go wrong with this!

Good starting point for a new player
I'm a very new player to Magic. I have only played a few games against a friend who is also new to the game. I saw this and thought it may help with the deck building side of things. The box is very nice and well made, and capable of holding 500+ cards in my view.I received some very nice mythic rares, 4 x revolving winds and several foil cards.I enjoyed reading the deck building guide. As a new player, it helped to make sense of what you aim to do and names some decks you may want to look at.Overall a very good buy, and thoroughly recommend.

Great for beginners
A decent price for what you get, especially including the boosters for the few extra random cards you receive. Great for Lands too. The general cards themselves aren't great and I'd only really recommend buying this to either complete beginners or those who want to amass a collection fairly quickly (and cheaply). Could build a few decent decks but nothing amazing (though that's not to be expected with this kind of purchase). But all in all, great item for beginners and would recommend to others.
