Terrible wrist support, pretty good gloves.
These gloves were an enormous disappointment to me when I first used them. Initially, I gave these gloves a 1-star rating and a rather lengthy negative review. These gloves simply do not offer suitable wrist protection for hitting a heavy bag as they come, but with some added wrist support they are a pretty good option. I would think about ordering a size bigger so that you can wear wrist wraps underneath. I was able to improvise a solution with gear that I already own. I have been using a pair of Grizzly Fitness Power Training Wrist Wraps and they really helped to lock down my wrists when I was hitting the bag. I might be the only one in the world doing this, but it works well for me. I ended up being pretty happy with this solution, but I wish I ordered a size larger, because there is no way I can get wrist wraps underneath the large size. I will be happy enough to use these gloves with these wraps until they wear out.

Solid performer, good workmanship but need more padding
One of the best punching gloves I've ever used; I have used 5-6 different brands past 20 years.Although my hands get sweaty quite a bit yet it just holds up good with any tears. I wish Harbinger to start making some gel padding for knuckle protection since over time, the form padding gets somehow harden up/compacted and start hurting the knuckles.I think it's just well made and especially I like the 3 section padding that allows me to hold my fists tight without any fatigue after 30-40 minutes of heavy bag workout.

Great fitting gloves, holds together well.
I bought these mainly for bag work out, and some light sparing. Follow their sizing charts! I wanted a real tight fitting glove, one that I could throw on quick without wraps yet still be able to wear them for hard workouts. Measuring my hand width - they were about 7.5" right on the cusp of Small -> Medium. I opted for Small, since mainly I wanted a glove I could throw on quick and punch the bag without spending a minute wrapping my hands. It fits amazing without wraps. I'm a bit short 5'7" so most of my punches on the bag are angled up - so my pinky/ring knuckle is the first to be contacted. Wearing these gloves during long work outs I get a lot of rubbing between the pinky/ring knuckle and it'll wear down my skin there and start bleeding. It's not a big deal, somewhat used to it since I used to work out on the bag with just wraps, and it doesn't really happen for short sessions. If I went one size up I don't think it would've happened, although I dont think they would've fit as well. Now if i put wraps under these, and take it easy on the number of passes around the knuckles I can barely squeeze into the small (after breaking them in some). I almost want a second pair of these (Med) for wrapping/sparing/long work outs, and just keep the smalls for my quick bag gloves that fit perfectly. I might end up doing that, but they are rather expensive.Apart from the fit:* The construction on these gloves seem solid. I've gone from other open fingered gloves that all just seemed cheap and would tend to rub down or stretch out at the stitching after time. These are by far the most solid design I've seen, and am not worried about any failures.* They provide finger protection for your second joint in the fingers. A lot of open fingered gloves cut off earlier, which leaves those fingers exposed during certain blocks.* The wrist lock/protection is phenomenal. Without wraps these gloves work to keep my wrist locked in and secure as if I was wearing wraps. I have never bent a wrist back or had any problems with these on. The padding for the back wrist is very thick, good for protection.* They do not smell! Even after 1-2 long workouts, these gloves have a very neutral smell. Does not hold in odor like my clothes will. They only thing I would consider changing or as a "negative" would be the closed palm. I think if it were more opened it would help cool down your hands more and sweat less. I have considered modding this, and I'll probably get bored one day and do it. Just haven't found it in myself to cut up a 40 dollar pair of gloves yet!All in all - I am extremely happy with this purchase. I considered several different pairs, all were cheaper, and it was a bit difficult at first to justify this purchase. But after the first time wearing these I (as I'm sure you will be to) was quite satisfied with the purchase, they are much better fitting and protecting then any other glove I've put on.

Mixed opinion and performance
I've used many pairs (7+) of these gloves over the last 5 or 6 years for heavy bag workouts (~5 hours a week). Including look-alikes marketed under different names which are essentially identical. After about 8 months of use, the interior dye starts wearing off, so your knuckles turn black. Serious scrubbing after a workout to remove the color. A month or so after that, they start to stink and end up having to be thrown in favor of a new pair, although the gloves themselves show little sign of wear at that point. It's a regular, predictable pattern.Tried glove dogs, careful drying, "BO" sprays, etc. The spray is useless, the glove dogs can extend it a few months before the gloves become biohazards, but that's not the real problem -- buying new gloves every year isn't so bad.The problem is, every once in awhile, you get a pair which for some reason, are less effective protection. Switch to the new pair and knuckles start bruising big time immediately. Go back to the old pair, or get a different new pair, and the bruising stops. Same size, same feel, different protection results. There's something about a percentage of these gloves that isn't quite right and you end up with inadequate protection. So I've started looking for something else -- it's too hit and miss. If you get a good pair, they will still go sour pretty fast and you're back to square one.Possibly if you use them less often and get lucky with your first pair, these things won't be a factor.UPDATE: Ringside's "Gel Shock Thunder Bag Gloves" seem to address the disadvantages of this style of glove. Partly open palm (still w/grip bar) means they dry fast (a couple minutes) so may not stink up as fast. The impact protection seems better. No XL size, it seems. Only question is how they hold up over time. We'll see.FURTHER UPDATE: I've found rubbing baking soda into every part of the gloves solves the smell problem. Wouldn't you know the cheapest solution is the one that works best. So much for expensive sprays, glove dogs, etc.Another update: Also tried Primetime MMA-4 gloves mentioned by another reviewer. Nicely made gloves that hold their dye, but not ideal for heavy bag work. The padding is thick, bouncy and shaped such that bag strikes tend to be "deflected" and bounce/roll away. Makes for a very unsatisfying work out, stresses wrist, etc. These gloves seem better suited to grappling or flat hand work than a fist and head-on impact.I've been switching between Harbinger's, Ringside Thunder bag gloves, and Primetime MMA-4 and find I am glad when the Ringside's come up in the rotation since they feel the best and protect the best.It seems the Gel-Shock's are the clear winners, just be sure they dry completely between use, else the odor problem accelerates and you can even get dye-transfers. I have 4 pairs in rotation so use a given pair only about once a week.
