Received as advertised.
This scope is small and delivers great pics. Luckily it works just great through ImageJ and iMovie on my macs - so I don't have to use their subpar Mac software. I think it is a great value for the money.

Works with a Mac
I tried this with a Mac. OSX 10.6.3 It comes with a little disk and an application for Mac called MicroCapture.Be aware, that the app comes on a mini disk. I would not try to insert this into a PowerBook. I could not find the software online. It takes pictures up to 1600x1200 pixel. The magnification? 1mm turn out as 45mm on the screen. I would say that is a 45x microscope, unless the magnification level is calculated in a different way.The picture quality is great for the price. The snapshot button as well as the Preferences in the software do not work with the Mac.I would buy it again.

Works well, but with older operating systems only
I could not get it to work with Vista or Windows 7. With XP, it did a good job. In addition to magnifying small objects, it could also be used to scan a half page document. All the instructions and website could be improved for clarity. I did not get any feedback from the manufacturer re the operating system.

When manufacturers stop supporting operating systems they would be better served by pulling the unsupported hardware off the market ...
Product worked until Windows 10. No Windows 10 drivers now and software that allows you to capture photos or video no longer can find the microscope. Have been out to Veho website and the latest drivers off their support download did not rectify the situation.Given this, I'm surprised and dismayed to see this model still being sold when functionality is severely limited. When manufacturers stop supporting operating systems they would be better served by pulling the unsupported hardware off the market or making the limitations known.Personally don't think they should be allowed to be sold on Amazon given they are non functional on Windows 10 without such clarification.Product was good prior to this change.

difficult to use
This microscope was very difficult to get the PC to recognize it. It would work intermittently, but not reliably. The Carson Zorb is easier.

Make Sure you have XP SP3
I purchased this device for documenting PC boards and small mechanical parts. I could not make it work, so I contacted the company. They were non-responsive as I had read from other reviews. So, I put the puzzle together myself based on how many other people were having problems, and discovered that you need to have SP3 installed and that SP2 doesn't work. Simple as that, and the manufacturer didn't even know it. Cool device, and easy to use with great pictures.

Not a zoom. 20X or 200X But still worth the money
This USB microscope is written up as being 20X to 200X. This carries the implication that it is a true zoom microscope. Mine seems to be either a fixed 20 power or a fixed 200 power, depending on the settings made on the focus wheel. All in all a pretty good little microscope though, focusing is pretty easy and one can take pictures and movies easily, although I would recommend using the software to take the picture rather than the small button on the side of the unit because of camera shake when using the button.Image quality is pretty good. This obviously isn't a $ 3000.00 laboratory microscope, so don't expect that kind of resolution. One feature not mentioned is the ability to measure very small objects using the microscope. Measurement choice is microns, millimeters, pixels and inches, this feature will be very nice if you need it.
