Great knife
Love this knife. The slight angle gives you more leverage when cutting and the grooves near the blade part make it easy to cut precisely.

Must have purchase!
This is a multi-purpose knife. I have used it for drywall, platform stickers and what not and it is still in great condition and does what it should. Its easy to use and is of good quality. The assembly is easy as well - overall good purchase.

Perfect for drywall and roofing
It is exactly as shown in the picture. The size is a little smaller than what I thought but it fit in my knife case perfect. Definitely lasted longer than most cheaper versions. The blade is able to be adjusted to reach out much further than normal utility knives while I'm still being safe

I like IRWIN TOOLS. But this time they got it wrong.
First, once set up, as a knife of the 'drywall' type (many uses, it's fine. Has a nice grip. BUT ... I bought these (in quantity 3) because I own lots of Irwin-brand tools and trust the brand. This time they failed, on ... On the initial customer experience. Five photos attached. The first shows the essential packaging, but only after I had opened up one side of the knife's handle to install the first blade. Getting to this step required a large, heavy-duty long-nose pliers, because (as I'd learned while opening the first knife; this was the third) there was absolutely no way that my 72-year-old hands and fingers had the strength to turn that 'tool-free' knob on the outside. It's not like I'm old-age handicapped; but I'm no longer a youngster. That first image reveals the source of the problem. The large, yellow-and-blue paper (for retail sales display) is extremely tough and rather thick. It's not cardboard, but it's thicker and stronger than I'd expected. I could not tear it off (experience from opening and setting up my first two) without much strain on the internal mechanism and leaving a torn-off end of the almost cardboard piece 'permanently' inside (and possibly interfering with) the inside where the knife blade sits. The second image shows the three tools I needed to retrieve just to get the job done. The screwdriver has a Torx T-10 bit attached, which is what you need to loosen the three screws visible (more closely) in the third image. And you probably must loosen all three to get the paper to release, except that the one screw must be removed completely to get that paper out without stress on the screw that's holding it. The fourth and fifth images show the paper being removed away from where that 'forward' screw had been threaded through the paper. Finally, although this likely won't much matter, on two of these three knives which I received and assembled today, that 'forward' screw was either itself stripped or (more likely) the knife handle itself was stripped. That forward screw went in and sort-of held, but could not be tightened. I doubt I stripped anything while removing the screws (life does not work that way) and I'm a sufficiently experienced tool guy to not strip threads while driving them in. I cannot prove it, but I suspect that the threads were stripped while the knife was being assembled for delivery. If I'm correct, that heavy paper might have been partly caught into the screw or handle in a way that kept the scres in place (seemingly not stripped) but the knife was effectively damaged (inside) before delivery. ~~~ Here's my bottom line assessment. I like the shape and grip of the handle. I like it that (old school) the knife does not retract. For some uses, workers like me simply want a simple knife. BUT we don't need it to be so simple that it can be opened without a #2 Phillips screwdriver. I doubt there's a drywall worker or any other kind of worker who does not have a #2 Phillips driver close at hand. ~~~ The Boomer generation of drywall knives needed a fat-blade, straight-blade screwdriver which is awkward and (these days) rarely close at hand. Simple change that, and improve the shape of the handle, but otherwise just keep it simple. ~~~ Hey, IRWIN, are you listening? I wrote this because I like you, but today you disappointed me quite a lot. Take care.

so honeslty this is quite unpractical if u use it often, its really rough to twist with ur thumb and i think a screw would have been a better idea

This is the worst tool I have ever purchased, whoever designed this has never seen a knife let alone use one, do not waste your money on this garbage it's not worth the cardboard it comes in, not worth the one star amazon will make me leave it, completely useless to anyone who works for a living
